Class of 1965 Tops Reunion Challenge as Part of Alumni Weekend 2015

Members of the Class of 1965 celebrated their 50th reunion and the top spot in the Reunion Challenge during GW Alumni Weekend 2015.

Members of the Class of 1965 celebrated their 50th reunion and the top spot in the Reunion Challenge during GW Alumni Weekend 2015.

Celebrating their 50th reunion year, the Class of 1965 outpaced 11 other classes celebrating milestone reunions at this year’s Alumni Weekend in response to an anonymous reunion donor’s challenge. The Class of ’65 had the highest alumni participation of any reunion class, unlocking a $25,000 gift in honor of their class from the donor.

“I think all universities need [philanthropic] support, and I think the people that give are the people that have the best experiences at the university and can look back and realize the things they learned have helped them in their lives,” said Nancy Broyhill, BA ’65, a GW trustee emerita and member of the 50th reunion committee. “You always think of your own class as being special, and GW really was a special place.”

Among the events for GW alumni during the weekend were the 79th annual Alumni Achievement Awards,  a special celebration of GW Law’s 150th anniversary, and a reception to honor and thank members of the Luther Rice Society and the GW Loyal society.

The weekend also saw the installations of James Wade as the Avram S. Tucker Professor of Leadership and Strategy at the School of Business and Patricia Latham as the School of Medicine and Health Sciences’ Frank N. Miller, MD, Teaching Professor.
